Rooftop Brewing // Neutron Imperial Session Ale // Seattle, WA // 4% ABV 42 IBU
When I think session ale, I think Spring. But Rooftop came out with this darker imperial session that is cask conditioned with Amarillo and Mosaic hops that gives it both a fresh and developed taste.
Color: Hazy Amber – the hue of Autumn.
Smell: Harvest! Fresh hops and fresh mash, with orange and floral undertones.
Taste: Robust hop bitterness but maintains a citrus bounce throughout the profile with a sweet malt kick at the end. The Neutron has a surprisingly heavy grain and malt flavor for the low ABV.
Overall: A low alcohol ISA that still packs in the flavor. It’s that in-between beer when you need to slow the pace but still want a drink in your hand. Rooftop has managed to give new meaning to what a session can be: an impression of fall with tastes of harvest.
