Pike Brewing Company // Hive Five Hopped Honey Ale // Seattle, WA // 5% ABV 26 IBU
The combs for this honey ale was sourced from the apiary at Salish Spa and Lodge aka The Great Northern Hotel. It doesn't get more PNW than this.
Color: Rich, golden honey.
Smell: Sweet and pale malt, Belgian tulip fields
Taste: German malt backbone that ends with a kiss of honey. Hops help balance the the boldness of the malt. It has a medium mouthfeel with a biscuity flavor with the honey hanging heavy in the back of the throat.
Overall: An easy drink with a mellow palate that never becomes overwhelmed by the floral, honey sweetness. A sunny picnic in flower fields.
Pair With: A binge sesh of Twin Peaks while eating soft cheese and lemon gelato.
