Dry Hopped // Schilling Cider Co. // Seattle, WA
I am not one to discriminate. Any craft drink (preferably alcoholic) is one I can respect. So today I'm reviewing a cider from local Seattle distillery, Schilling Cider Company. I was very happy to see that we got a Schilling cider on tap at my work so I was able to snap the rustically awesome tap handle as well!
Color: Pale, mellow yellow, green tinge, and translucent.
Smell: Apple, pear, hop aroma, and alcoholic!
Taste: Hoppy to say the least! It is very bitter up front and while it does have a sweet finish, the hop bitterness lasts a while on the palette.
Overall: As you may have come to understand, I love me some hops in beer. But this combo was a little strange to me! I thought I would really love it and I did enjoy the concept of it, but it was too hop dominant for me. I'd need a little bit more cider flavor to come through for it to be balanced enough for an entire pint. But I do love that Schilling isn't afraid to experiment and play with flavors. At their taproom I've tried Sriracha and Chai infused ciders! So if you're one who loves new flavors and innovations check out Schilling for sure.
